It was built almost 2000 years ago, and is still in remarkably good shape for how ridiculously old it is. It is most famous for holding gladiator fights for public entertainment, as well as many other shows, contests, and games that went on for almost 500 years. It has been used for so many things since being built, and is an attraction in Rome that you will not want to pass up.

In Rome, there are so many evidences of early Roman architecture that are truly amazing to look upon. You can see things that are thousands and thousands of years old, but are still regarded as structural accomplishments by architects today.
